Hornet Removal & Control in Columbia, MD

The homepage lists hornet extermination as its own service. We look at the nest from a safe working distance, tell you what insect we think it is, and explain the removal before we start.

Bee and wasp nests are covered on the bee, wasp, and hornet removal page. This page is the hornet visit. Maryland pest license #32375.

Nests we are asked to look at

  • A large gray paper nest in a tree or on a structure — the kind our bee and wasp page already describes for bald-faced hornets
  • Hornets near a door, window, or a place children play
  • Activity at a nest you can see but do not want to approach
  • A nest you are not sure is hornets, wasps, or bees

Stay back from the nest. Our wasp nest safety article already explains why disturbing a nest is a bad idea. If you are unsure of the species, say so when you call and describe where the nest is.

How the hornet visit works

We identify the insect as well as we can from the nest and the activity around it, then tell you the removal approach for that situation. Treatment is not the same for every stinging insect. Honeybees, yellow jackets, paper wasps, and bald-faced hornets are already distinguished on our bee and wasp page.

After the visit we tell you what was done and what, if anything, you should watch for at that spot. This page does not guarantee that another nest will never be built nearby, and it does not list a price.

Where hornet removal is offered

Columbia, MD (Wilde Lake, Harper's Choice, Hickory Ridge, Oakland Mills, and Long Reach), Ellicott City, Clarksville, Laurel, and Washington, DC, plus surrounding Howard County and DC Metro areas.

Frequently asked questions

Should I spray the nest myself first?

No. Knocking down or spraying a nest can make the insects defensive. Call and describe the location instead.

Is a hornet nest the same visit as bee and wasp removal?

Hornet removal is its own service page because the homepage lists it separately. Bee and wasp nests are still handled — see the bee, wasp, and hornet removal page and the wasp nest removal page.

Do you publish a price?

No. Call (301) 665-0354 or request an estimate and we will talk through the nest you have.

What license number is on the site?

Maryland pest license #32375. We are not adding any other licensing claim on this page.
